In a July 30 special meeting, Lakeland Community College's Board of Trustees approved an extension of President Sunil Ahuja's contract through June 2030, reaffirming its confidence in his leadership and commitment to the college's long-term success.

Since assuming the presidency, Ahuja has led Lakeland through a period of careful fiscal stewardship, strategic growth, and strengthened community engagement. He became the sixth president in 2024, a time in which the College faced financial challenges and an enrollment slide. In the past two years, Lakeland has advanced initiatives that support student success, workforce development, academic excellence, and regional economic growth.

"The Board's decision reflects its confidence in President Ahuja's vision and leadership," says Paul Rupert, chair of the Lakeland Community College Board of Trustees. "His commitment to students, employees, and the community has positioned Lakeland for continued success and impact across Northeast Ohio."
