Area students display artistic talent in juried gallery exhibition

Posted: January 26, 2017

Middle and high school students will be exhibiting works of art at the Annual Lake County and Geauga County Juried Junior and Senior High School Art Show in The Gallery at Lakeland. The show provides talented students the opportunity to submit their projects for adjudication, with scholarship and monetary prizes awarded. The exhibition runs from Jan. 22 through Feb. 18, with an artist reception and awards ceremony slated for Saturday, Feb. 18, at noon in the Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center. The gallery is located on the first floor of Building D on Lakeland’s main campus, at 7700 Clocktower Dr., Kirtland, Ohio, 44094. All shows are free and open to the public.

For this show, 611 artworks were submitted with 432 accepted for display. The show was opened this year to students in grades six through 12.

In addition to the show, students and their parents are invited to attend an open house Feb. 18 at 10:30 a.m. From the gallery, guests will be taken on a guided tour of Lakeland’s photography, graphic design, fine arts and music studios and be able to meet members of the faculty.
