President Sunil Ahuja announced as Phi Theta Kappa Paragon honoree

Posted: February 19, 2026

Sunil Ahuja, Ph.D., President of Lakeland Community College, was named a Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Paragon President Honoree.

Ahuja will be recognized during PTK Catalyst, Phi Theta Kappa’s annual international convention on March 27. The Phi Theta Kappa Paragon President recognition celebrates college leaders who demonstrate a strong and immediate connection to student success by prioritizing the recognition of high achievement and championing meaningful opportunities for student engagement.

These presidents understand that when students are connected to their campus through leadership, scholarship, and service, they are more likely to persist, complete their credentials, and achieve successful transfer and career outcomes. Honorees are nominated by Phi Theta Kappa student leaders.

“I am truly honored and deeply touched to receive this recognition,” Ahuja said. “Being recognized as a Phi Theta Kappa Paragon President Honoree is one of the most valuable recognitions a college president can receive because it comes from students. We are all here to serve students first and I will continue my focus on the success of Lakeland’s students.”

Ahuja demonstrated visible and engaged support for Phi Theta Kappa by celebrating student achievement, participating directly in regional programming, and strengthening connections between student leaders and college administration. From welcoming participants at a regional conference to remaining actively involved throughout the event and collaborating with advisors on future initiatives, his leadership reflects a commitment to elevating student voices and expanding opportunities.

Students and advisors note that Ahuja’s leadership extends beyond recognition to meaningful action. By supporting fundraising efforts, securing resources for chapter programming, and advocating for dedicated student spaces and increased visibility through campus communications, he reinforces the role of Phi Theta Kappa as a central part of students’ experience. His presence on campus and dialogue with students demonstrate an approach grounded in accessibility, encouragement, and shared success.
