Terry Bowe honored at hall of fame ceremony on Jan. 24.
Terry Bowe, the longtime leader of Lakeland Community College’s men’s basketball program, was inducted into the college’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, Jan. 24. Bowe joins the Hall of Fame as part of its seventh induction class.
Bowe’s legacy at Lakeland spans two decades, including 18 years as head coach and two years as an assistant. During his tenure, he amassed 310 career wins and led his teams to three Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) titles and five district championships. Under his leadership, the Lakers qualified for the national tournament in five different seasons.
A four-time Coach of the Year, Bowe also received the prestigious NABC Guardian of the Game Award. His career was defined by the development of high-level talent, including numerous All-OCCAC, All-Region, and All-American players.
"Terry Bowe represents the very best of Lakeland Athletics," said Scott Barlow, director for athletics at Lakeland. "His impact transcends the wins and losses; he has been a mentor, a leader, and a pillar of this community for two decades. Inducting him into the Hall of Fame is a fitting tribute to a man who poured his heart into this program and its student-athletes."
During the ceremony, Bowe was honored by former assistant coaches Torry Rollins, Chris Ulrich, and Mike Hunter. Former head coach Willis Brown also delivered a presentation reflecting on Bowe’s impact on the program.
Bowe and his wife, Monica, continue to support the college through the TJ Bowe Scholarship, established in memory of their infant son to support student-athletes. The couple will also help fund the restoration of the campus basketball court, which will be renamed Terry Bowe Court in honor of his coaching career.
