Lakeland Community College has been awarded a $300,000 JumpStart grant, distributed over the course of two years, to support the Entrepreneurial Services Provider (ESP) Program, aimed at strengthening the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

This grant is part of a broader initiative to foster innovation and business growth in Northeast Ohio. The ESP Program is designed to fill critical gaps in the region’s entrepreneurial infrastructure, offering resources and support to help startups and small businesses scale effectively. The $300,000 funding from Jumpstart will enable Lakeland to:

- Provide targeted services to emerging companies, including mentorship, business planning, and access to capital.

- Collaborate with regional partners to ensure entrepreneurs have the tools and networks needed to succeed.

- Expand outreach and engagement efforts to reach underserved communities and promote inclusive economic development.

“We are eager to serve as an ambassador of the ESP Network and connect with Centers of Excellence Partners,” says Ryan Hamilton, Ph.D., dean, Engineering, Lakeland. “We are positioned to be strong contributors to workforce development and this grant helps us help tech-based companies grow.”

Jumpstart, a nonprofit venture development organization, has been instrumental in driving entrepreneurship across Ohio. This grant contributes to Lakeland’s ability to play a pivotal role in regional economic growth.
