Posted: August 20, 2025 | Updated: August 22, 2025

Lakeland Community College and the International Culinary Arts and Sciences Institute (ICASI) signed articulation agreements that create seamless educational pathways for students pursuing careers in culinary arts and pastry arts.

Under the innovative partnership, students who successfully complete ICASI's Advanced Techniques Diploma programs in either Culinary Arts or Pastry Arts will receive 30 semester credit hours toward an Associate of Technical Studies (ATS) degree at Lakeland Community College. This streamlined approach provides students with both specialized culinary expertise and the broader academic foundation essential for career advancement.

“With this partnership, students no longer have to choose between intensive hands-on training and earning a college degree – they can now have both, positioning themselves for success whether they want to work in high-end restaurants, start their own businesses, or pursue management roles in the hospitality sector" said Erin Fekete, Dean for Arts & Sciences at Lakeland Community College. "By recognizing the high-quality specialized training provided by ICASI, we're helping students achieve their educational goals more efficiently while ensuring they receive the comprehensive education needed for leadership roles in the culinary industry."

The collaboration addresses a critical gap in culinary education by combining ICASI’s renowned practical training with Lakeland’s comprehensive academic curriculum, preparing graduates for success and a diverse range of career paths. The articulation agreements also represent a significant investment in workforce development for Ohio's growing hospitality sector. Students benefit from ICASI's state-of-the-art facilities and industry connections while gaining transferable college credits that can accelerate their path to a four-year degree or immediate career advancement.

"This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to excellence in culinary education," said Loretta Paganini, Executive Director of the International Culinary Arts and Sciences Institute. "Our partnership with Lakeland Community College ensures that students receive not only the technical skills and hands-on experience that are the hallmark of our programs, but also the academic credentials that will open doors throughout their careers in the hospitality industry."

The agreements offer two specialized tracks in either Pastry Arts or Culinary Arts. Students interested in these pathways should contact admissions counselors at both institutions to develop a customized educational plan that meets their career objectives.
