Commencement is scheduled for Saturday, May 10.
May 10, 2025 marks the 58th commencement ceremony for Lakeland Community College, taking place in the Athletic & Fitness Center main gym. Mike Duffey, eleventh Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education, will deliver the Commencement address.
As Chancellor, Duffey oversees Ohio’s two-year and four-year colleges, universities and Technical Centers. Additionally, he carries out higher education policy and provides guidance to Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio General Assembly.
An Alumni Keynote address will also take place during each ceremony. Graduates will hear from Michael D. Thomas. Thomas is the senior director for university technology at Case Western Reserve University. Thomas earned his Associate of Arts degree from Lakeland in 1985. He was inducted into the Lakeland Alumni Hall of Fame in 2019 and currently serves as the alumni representative to The Lakeland Foundation Board of Directors.
Lakeland president, Dr. Sunil Ahuja, along with interim provost and vice president, Dr. John R. Crooks, will also address the graduates.
