EMT-Paramedic program receives national accreditation

Posted: October 18, 2016

Lakeland’s emergency medical technology - paramedic program has received its first national accreditation designation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Education Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Profession.

The program has traditionally been accredited for the Ohio Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Medical Services only.

Under former program coordinator Kevin Edmond's leadership, Lakeland submitted the application and was awarded accreditation on Sept. 16, 2016. Accreditation is valid through Sept. 20, 2021.

Joe Cooper is now the interim director/coordinator for the program, and he and the emergency medical technology department faculty will continue to carry on the high quality educational standards set forth by Edmond.
