Lakeland Community College is pleased to announce its upcoming Dworken & Bernstein Learn from Leaders series, a free public event series featuring interviews with Northeast Ohio’s top business leaders. This Spring, the series will feature a panel discussion focused on leading and community building.
Attendees can look forward to hearing from the following panelists:
Tim Deighan brings nearly three decades of healthcare leadership experience to the panel as the Patient Experience Coordinator for University Hospitals. With a distinguished 28-year tenure at UH, Tim has been instrumental in transforming patient care through innovative experience measurement and improvement strategies. His commitment to community leadership extends beyond healthcare, as evidenced by his pivotal role with the Willoughby and Western Lake County Chamber of Commerce. Currently serving as Board Chair, Tim plays a critical role in driving the Chamber's strategic initiatives, actively participating in monthly meetings and supporting community events that foster local business growth and collaboration.
Brandi Haught is a seasoned banking professional with an impressive 20-year track record of excellence in financial relationship management. As a Banking Relationship Manager at KeyBank, she specializes in serving high-caliber businesses with annual revenues exceeding $3 million. Known for her client-first approach, Brandi builds lasting partnerships by providing tailored financial solutions that align with her clients’ goals. Brandi currently serves as the Board Chair of United Way of Lake County, leading efforts to create a lasting change in the community.
Mariam Shamszad, Ph.D. stands at the forefront of technological innovation as a Technology Development Manager at Lubrizol Corporation. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from George Washington University, followed by a postdoctoral assignment at the University of Texas at Austin that laid the groundwork for her exceptional career. At Lubrizol, Mariam joined the R&D Chemical Synthesis department where she focused on the development and synthesis of novel components. In her current role, Mariam is now responsible for developing new fluids for conventional automatic transmission, dedicated hybrid transmissions, and off-highway equipment.
“Our Learn From Leaders series gives students and the community access to leaders in business management, human resources, entrepreneurship and marketing,” says Connie Golden, professor and department chair of Lakeland’s Business Management program. “These free events are perfect for students, aspiring entrepreneurs and career-focused professionals looking to excel and advance in their fields.”
Learn from Leaders gives attendees a rare glimpse into the minds of successful business leaders. This series provides unparalleled access to insider knowledge, and is just one way the Lakeland Business Management program provides value-added experiences for students and the community. Guests of these events are encouraged to bring their questions for speakers to help them gain insights into the best minds in the business community.
