Lakeland Veterans Day ceremony honors all who served

Posted: November 7, 2024

The Lakeland Veterans Center hosts a special Veterans Day ceremony on campus at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 11, 2024. The ceremony will take place in the H-Building atrium and is open to the public. A short, meaningful ceremony including two student veteran guest speakers and the Edison Elementary School Choir will take place to honor our veterans who have served in the armed forces.

“The Lakeland Veterans Center has served 1000’s of student veterans over the years. The diversity of our veterans exists in many facets like age, gender and experience,” says S. Rhonda Osagie-Erese, manager of the Lakeland Veterans Center. “Paralleled in those facets are veterans of all eras. From WWII to recent conflicts. We are so proud to host an event that will truly ‘Honor All Who Served.’ The addition of Edison Elementary students really speaks to the military family unit. Whether at home or deployed, no veteran serves alone. Some of our local children have deployed military members and we want to celebrate them as well.”

Following the ceremony, guests are invited to stay for a bistro-style lunch, to play team-building games hosted by Lakeland’s nationally ranked chapter of Student Veterans of America (SVA) and to meet community guests including representatives of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization, veteran resource table.
