Pianist Avguste Antonov to give free recital at Lakeland

Lakeland proudly hosts a free recital by noted pianist Avgust Antonov Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. in the college’s Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094.

Antonov’s recital will include music by Lakeland faculty member Dr. Matthew Saunders, as well as other living American composers, including pieces by Billy Joel.

Antonov is a classical pianist who has performed in recitals worldwide and has garnered rave reviews across genres. He studied at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux in France, where he was awarded the Gold Medal in Piano and Chamber Music. Antonov furthered his studies in the United States at the University of Kansas. He has performed extensively with wind ensembles and symphony orchestras across the globe and at such prestigious events as the Music Education National Convention, the College Band Directors National Convention, and the Bulgarian Ambassador Residence in Washington, D.C.


Antonov is a lifetime member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the American Music Center and is a featured pianist for the Piano Society.He has worked with many noted composers, including Lakeland’s Dr. Matthew Saunders, and has provided premiere performances of Saunders’ music and that of many other artists. He lives in Texas and teaches piano at the Master’s Touch School of Music.

Antonov will also be performing Saunders’ “Concerto for Piano and Orchestra” with the Lakeland Civic Orchestra in their concert scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at 4 p.m. in the Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center.
