The Lakeland Community College Visual Arts Student Exhibition is on display now through April 25, in The Gallery at Lakeland, located on the first floor of Lakeland’s D-Building. A closing artist reception is scheduled for Thursday, April 25, from 7-9 p.m., where attendees can mingle and connect with the students whose works are on display.

Displayed annually every spring, the exhibition serves to showcase the many talents of Lakeland’s visual arts students within their respective mediums. Many different art forms are always represented, and this year is no exception, with painting, drawing, jewelry, ceramics, photography, graphic design and sculpture on display.

The exhibition has a particularly large collection of jewelry this year, with 56 pieces amongst several showcases that represent fabrication, lost wax casting and enameling techniques. The featured jewelers also span multiple generations, from high school juniors and seniors to senior citizens in advanced jewelry classes.

More than 50 pieces of photography are also featured in this year’s show.

“Lakeland students have access to the college's state-of-the-art labs and equipment for digital imaging, color processing, printing, studio lighting and more,” says Wade Gagich, coordinator of Lakeland’s photography and graphic design labs. “We offer courses for people of all backgrounds and skill levels, from beginner to advanced, and classes like our new Smartphone Photography class allow students to gain practical, hands-on knowledge and experience with equipment that’s right at most of our fingertips.”
