Identification of the Intersection of Opioid Use Disorder and Human Trafficking in the Health Care System

Lakeland Community College will host a Knowledge Exchange on human trafficking, Tuesday, Feb. 20, from noon – 1 p.m., in room A-2100 on Lakeland’s campus at 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland.

During this session, the topics of human trafficking and opioid trends in Ohio will be discussed. Human trafficking will be defined and the relationship of opioids within human trafficking will be explained. We will also review the recruitment tactics within treatment centers and prison settings. Identifying victims and ways to advocate for them will also be summarized.

The MetroHealth Medical Center Office of Opioid Safety presenters are:

  • Kristin J. Hess, RN, BSN, CARN, CCHP, EMT-P | Clinical Education Specialist

ABOUT THE KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE
The Knowledge Exchange is a free, one-hour presentation, typically around noon, on topics from acupuncture to the Zika virus. Guests are welcome to bring their lunch and listen as the speaker shares their knowledge on a specific topic. No RSVP is necessary.
