Discover in-demand health careers at Lakeland Community College

Posted: February 6, 2024

This spring, Lakeland Community College invites prospective students to explore high-growth careers in health care. The college will host 11 events through April that showcase Lakeland's cutting-edge health programs.

The highlight of the season is the Health Programs Open House, April 4 from 3:30-6 p.m. Attendees can tour Lakeland's state-of-the-art health technologies building, speak with faculty, and get insight into fields that deal with both direct patient care and behind-the-scenes administrative or laboratory work. This event will be held in H-Building on Lakeland’s campus at 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, OH 44094. Registration is recommended, and walk-ins are also welcome.

A number of Lakeland health programs are also hosting individual information sessions and open houses throughout the spring semester where they’ll provide deeper dives into their specific programs. Upcoming sessions include: health information management/medical coding, histotechnology, medical assisting, occupational therapy assistant and surgical technology.

Lakeland’s health programs prepare students for rewarding roles in patient care or behind-the-scenes medical jobs. Our curriculum aligns with input from local health system partners to ensure our graduates are equipped with the skills employers are actively hiring for. Health program classrooms are outfitted with state-of-the art equipment such as “breathing” manikins, a mock operating room, hospital beds, a life-size ambulance simulator and much more.

“Our health program degree and certificate earners enjoy outstanding job placement rates in Northeast Ohio’s robust health care system," said Regina Prosser, Ph.D., DNP, RN-BC, CNE, dean for health technologies at Lakeland. “These events are the perfect opportunity to explore our health programs and speak directly with faculty, who can help identify a field of interest out of our 21 offerings. As demand for health care workers continues to increase, Lakeland offers accessible training for these high-demand careers, with some programs placing students into the workforce in as little as eight weeks.”
