The Lakeland Civic Chorus will present
The Lakeland Civic Chorus will present their first concert of the Arts at Lakeland fall season, “Last Rose,” Sunday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m. in the Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center in the D-Building of Lakeland’s campus.
The program has an abundance of delightful works that illustrate nature’s strength and charm, such as Sydney Bell’s “Flower of Beauty,” with music by John Clements and Christina Rossetti’s “The Rose,” with music by Ola Gjeilo.
Thomas Moore’s “‘Tis the Last Rose of Summer,” with music by Richard Alfred Milliken, is a fitting ode to the autumn season and the hardships of letting go, while David Grant and John Rutter’s “Seeds Grow to Plants” highlights the joys that can be found from starting anew.
The chorus will also embrace the whimsical with pieces like Lewis Carroll’s “Jabberwocky” and George David Weiss’s “Lullaby of Birdland.”
The concert will end on a touching note, presenting audiences with a traditional Irish blessing titled “You Do Not Walk Alone,” with music by Elaine Hagenberg.
Concert tickets can be purchased at the box office upon arrival or online atlakelandcc.edu/arts. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and veterans and $2 for Lakeland students with ID. Online purchasers should bring their order confirmation to show at the door. Lakeland’s campus is located at 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, Ohio, 44094, just off the I-90/State Route 306 exit. Free parking is available.
