The Holden University Center of Lakeland Community College announces one new partner and five new programs slated to begin fall semester 2016.

NEW PARTNER

John Carroll University is the latest addition to the Holden University Center partnership program. Through its partnership, John Carroll will begin offering a graduate level Reading Endorsement Program for teachers and intervention specialists. Emphasis will be placed on Ohio New Learning Standards for English Language Arts K-12, diagnostic reading assessment and evidence-based interventions, and 21st century skills. This program can be completed in one year and coursework may be applied toward a MEd from John Carroll.

“With more than 150 elementary schools in Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula and eastern Cuyahoga counties, John Carroll’s partnership with Lakeland’s Holden University Center provides an excellent opportunity for local teachers and intervention specialists to advance their skills closer to home,” said Dr. Cathy Rosemary, professor of education and chair of the department of education and school psychology at John Carroll University. She added, “Adaptive to local school contexts, the program provides job-embedded coursework that allows for integration with school literacy improvement goals and plans.”

Information sessions will be held Monday, June 20, at 9-10 a.m. and an afternoon session at 4-5 p.m. at the Holden University Center. Register at lakelandcc.edu/uc or call 440.525.7535.
