In an effort to strengthen the link with its alumni and friends, Lakeland Community College has launched a new digital magazine.

The Link is the Lakeland Community College Alumni and Friends magazine that aims to keep former students, as well as friends of the college, informed of campus happenings.

The inaugural issue spotlights how, for the first time in Lakeland history, no commencement ceremony was held this past spring and how health tech students overcame challenges to complete classes and credits. Other special interest stories include student spotlights and "Lakeland Love Stories."

"Our goal is for The Link to further engage our alumni and friends in what's happening on campus and to learn more from our alumni about their lives today," said Laurie Principe, associate director of development-operations and alumni relations at Lakeland. "Sharing Lakeland's news in this new format will play a key part toward building our alumni relations program."

The magazine's layout was designed by Lakeland alumni Erin Henry (nee Cooper). Henry is a 2018 graduate of Lakeland's graphic design program and now a member of the college's marketing and communications department.

The digital magazine is slated to be sent to more than 12,000 Lakeland alumni and friends twice a year.
