The orchestra performs four concerts annually, and rehearses Monday evenings on Lakeland’s main campus from August through May. Concerts for the fall 2018 season are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 4, and Monday, Dec. 10.

Orchestra members come from many different backgrounds, from passionate amateurs to professional musicians seeking additional performance opportunities, and from ages 14 to 80.Lakeland students may earn one college credit per semester for their participation.

Repertoire reflects the varied interests of the musicians and community, and ranges from the traditional orchestral repertoire to contemporary music and popular selections. The orchestra’s schedule for 2018-2019 includes music by Leonard Bernstein, Beethoven and American composers Libby Larsen and Olivia Keiffer, in addition to concertos with the winners of the 2018 Lakeland Young Artists Concerto Competition. All performances utilize a full orchestra of strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion.
