The Gallery at Lakeland presents “Celebrate Women’s History Month, from WOMAN XI…Created by women, of women and about women.” The exhibition runs Feb. 25 through March 30, with an artist reception and awards ceremony slated for Sunday, March 25, at 3:30 p.m. in the Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center. The gallery is located on the first floor of the D-Building on Lakeland’s main campus, at 7700 Clocktower Dr., Kirtland, Ohio, 44094. All shows are free and open to the public

For 11 years, The Gallery at Lakeland spring exhibition schedule has included this special show dedicated to art of women. Always part of Women’s History Month, the show is the brainchild of Mary Urbas, gallery coordinator at Lakeland and the curator of the exhibition. The show features an extensive display of pieces that were submitted by artists from all over the country. This year, 39 artists will be exhibiting their works, with the gallery walls and display cases filled with pieces representing a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor and encaustic painting, drawing ceramic sculpture, collage, textiles, fiber soft sculpture, waving, jewelry, lamp work glass, glass mosaic, sculpture, assemblage, digital painting, photography and mixed media.

“This year I am excited to welcome back to Cleveland, artist Dona Iona Drozda,” said Mary Urbas. “Donna owned and managed Signet Gallery in the Murray Hill Arts District. She relocated to Virginia where she owns and operates Wren House Studio, a 50-acre tree farm and retreat. Donna will be showing mixed media works from her current series ‘Reclamation, celebrate life and its burgeoning regrowth.’”

In addition, the Lakeland Women’s Center is hosting their annual Women of Achievement Awards event before the gallery reception. The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. in the Rodehorst Performing Arts Center and is free and open to the public.
