Juried art gallery show spotlights the many talents of area school students

Posted: January 30, 2018

Middle and high school students are exhibiting works of art at The Annual Lake County and Geauga County Juried Student Art Awards Show in The Gallery at Lakeland. The show provides gifted students the opportunity to submit their projects for adjudication, with scholarship and monetary prizes awarded. The exhibition runs through Feb. 17, with an artist reception and awards ceremony slated for Saturday, Feb. 17, at noon in Lakeland’s Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center. The gallery is located on the first floor of the D-Building on Lakeland’s main campus, at 7700 Clocktower Dr., Kirtland, Ohio, 44094. The show is free and open to the public.

For this exhibition, 32 teachers from 20 area schools submitted 597 art pieces, 449 of which were accepted for display.

In addition to the show, students and their parents are invited to attend an open house Feb. 17 at 10:30 a.m. From the gallery, guests will be taken on a guided tour of Lakeland’s photography, graphic design, fine arts and music studios and be able to meet members of the faculty.
