Lakeland seeks nominations for Woman of Achievement Awards

Posted: January 5, 2018

Lakeland Community College announces the 26th annual Woman of Achievement Awards, held Sunday, March 25, at 2 p.m. in the Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center on the main campus, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, OH 44094. Nominations are being accepted through Jan. 29, 2018, for women in the community who demonstrate this year’s theme of “Reach, Lift, Soar.”

Nominees might embody the theme of “Reach, Lift, Soar” personally, or may have helped another woman achieve her goals. An ideal nominee could have accomplished something that has benefited women; created something that supports women; personally helped others rise above difficulties; or used their time, talent or position to help others succeed.

To submit a nomination, write a letter, about one full-page in length, telling her story, describing how she exemplifies the theme of “Reach, Lift, Soar,” and how she has had a positive impact on others or the community as a whole. Include the full name and contact information of your nominee, as well as your own contact information. Nominees do not need to be well-known, they simply need to be known to you, and should live or work in Lake County.

Nomination letters can be submitted to Gloria Lane, manager of Lakeland’s Women’s Center, by email at glane@lakelandcc.edu or by mail to Gloria Lane, Women’s Center at Lakeland Community College, 7700, Clocktower Drive, Room C-1076, Kirtland, OH 44094. For more information, contact Gloria Lane at glane@lakelandcc.edu or 440.525.7436.

ABOUT THE WOMAN OF ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

To celebrate women's history month, the Woman of Achievement awards have been presented in March, every year since 1993. The award recognizes women whose lives personify a spirit of generosity, dedication and caring within the context of a specific theme. Rather than present the recipient with a plaque or certificate, Lakeland commissions a local female artist to create a representative and unique piece of artwork. The artwork is presented to each woman at a public ceremony.
