Construction begins on health building expansion; traffic changes start March 14
Construction of the Health Technologies Building (H-Building) expansion and renovation project begins March 14 during spring break. A construction fence will be installed around the project site (shown in the purple line on the map), which requires a reconfiguration of Clocktower Drive.

 Traffic flow
Beginning Monday, March 14, a portion of Clocktower Drive in front of H-Building will be closed, and northbound traffic will be rerouted on a temporary road through the west parking lot as shown in the red arrows on the map.
Southbound traffic and Laketran bus service will not be affected. Please consider using the east campus entrance on Garfield Road as an alternate route.

Parking and Pedestrian Traffic
For safety purposes, students and visitors will not be able to make a first left turn into the west parking lot. Follow the traffic reroute to access the west, northwest and nursing parking lots.
There will be 101 fewer parking spots in the west lot and 60 fewer spots in the nursing lot during this phase of the construction. Additional shuttle bus service will be provided.
Pedestrian paths will be marked with concrete barriers along the exterior of the construction fence as shown in the blue dotted line on the map. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to use caution around the construction site. Students parking on the west side of campus may enter at C-Building or the Clocktower.

Construction
Construction work on H-Building is expected to take 18 months. The expansion is scheduled to open in fall 2017, at which time renovation of the existing health building will begin.
This construction project will: expand classroom and lab space so more students can enroll in high-demand healthcare programs; allow Lakeland to add new programs including physical and occupational therapy assisting; and provide an atrium commons walk-though with lounge seating and “grab and go” food service.
This construction is made possible thanks to: Lake County voter passage of the college’s bond issue on Nov. 3, 2015; State of Ohio capital appropriations; and an Ohio Board of Regents Small Campus Targeted Workforce Expansion grant.
