THEATRE PERFORMANCES

Lakeland Civic Theatre Program

Violet

Music by Jeanine Tesori - one of the most vibrant composers of modern musical theater.

Lyrics by Brian Crawley

Directed by Dr. Martin Friedman

Drama Critics Circle Award Winner for the Best Musical and Tony Award-nominated

With hope and a ticket...

As a young girl, Violet was struck by a wayward axe blade when her father was chopping wood. The accident left her with a disfiguring injury upon her face.

Now, she has enough money to buy a bus ticket and leave her farm to embark on a journey across the 1964 Deep South toward a miracle - the healing touch of a T.V. evangelist. On the way, she meets a young African-American soldier whose love for her reaches far past her physical "imperfections." Though she may not succeed in having the scar on her face healed, Violet is able to repair those that are lying deeper than her skin.

"Violet" is a powerhouse piece of theater that needs no more than a few chairs and talented performers to take an audience's breath away.

January 30, 31 and February 6, 7, 13 & 14 at 7:30 p.m.

February 1, 8 & 15 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $7 students.

Call 440.525.7526 for production information.
Call 440.525.7134 for ticket purchases.

This production is supported by a generous grant from the Lake County Visitors Bureau.
