Fire Science - Issue 1 • August 2015

FEATURED PROGRAM

Why should you attend Lakeland?

Due to new state and college guidelines, we have made changes to our Fire Science and Emergency Management programs. This resulted in a reduction of up to 9 percent in required semester hours!

DO YOU NEED MORE REASONS?

  • Attend high quality classes online at your convenience 24/7.
  • Or if you prefer – attend our high quality classroom based courses!
  • If you already have college coursework or a degree, those credits will often transfer to Lakeland so you may earn your fire science degree faster.
  • FREE college credit is available for many fire certification and academy courses! We have awarded college credit for many certification, State and National Fire Academy, and Emergency Management Institute courses for 29 Years (Since 1986).
  • Lakeland Community College is internationally accredited by IFSAC.
  • Students living a distance from our main campus may “attend” their core fire science courses online; take approved / accredited general education courses (such as English, social science, etc.) at a college closer to home, and still receive their degree from Lakeland.

THE LAKELAND ADVANTAGE

ACCREDITATION

Lakeland's Fire Science and Emergency Management programs are Internationally Accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC).

Lakeland Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

Note: There are many types of accreditation but, “The most widely recognized and universally accepted form of accreditation is regional accreditation.” (Regional accreditation is the type of accreditation held by Lakeland.)

BUYER BEWARE: Some other colleges are NOT regionally accredited! This could cause transfer and/or recognition issues for a student. Additionally, some employers do not recognize degrees that do not hold this type of accreditation.

A COLLEGE EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT!
