Mark your calendar and plan to join us for this annual event. Sessions are organized by the following tracks: Peak Performance, Peak Resource Development, Peak Communications and Peak Leadership & Sustainability. The schedule also includes an opening talk and networking time.

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Seminar

April 20, 2023 | 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Lakeland Community College

Meet with the investigators from the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) who are charged with enforcing the FMLA Regulations. Among the topics covered will be:

  • Who is a covered employer?
  • Which employees are eligible for FMLA?
  • What are the qualifying reasons for FMLA?
  • What is a serious health condition?
  • What are the employer’s responsibilities?
  • What are the employee’s responsibilities?
  • How does FMLA apply to covered service members?
  • What are common mistakes to avoid?
  • How to handle FMLA abuse
  • Prohibited actions
  • And much more

The interactive seminar will include a discussion of real-life scenarios, exercises and application of the law from the USDOL’s investigators.

This is a free event but registration is required.

If no assistance is needed, the database is available while the library is open, Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. | Friday, 8 a.m. – noon | Saturday, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. | CLOSED: Sunday | Changes to hours will be posted. The library is located on the third floor of C-Building (Room C-3051).
