The Lakeland Civic Chorus will present their spring concert “The Promise of Springtime” Sunday, April 23, at 4 p.m. in Lakeland’s Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center in D-Building of the main campus at 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094.

The civic chorus will be performing the song cycle “Frostiana”' by Randall Thompson, which is a set of seven country songs set to poems by famed poet Robert Frost. This commissioned work was created in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the town of Amherst, Massachusetts, in 1959. The chorus will also delight audiences with a suite of songs from the classic musical “Porgy and Bess” by George Gershwin, with lyrics by Ira Gershwin and Du Bose Heyward. Last, they will perform treasured numbers from “American Tapestry” which is a set of American folk music arranged by Ed Lojeski.
