Lakeland Civic Flute Choir welcomes the holiday season with time-honored favorites

The Lakeland Civic Flute Choir presents their first concert of the 2022-2023 season with “Holiday Delights” Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at 7 p.m. in the Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center. The center is located on the first floor of the D-Building on the campus of Lakeland Community College.

Concert tickets are available at the box office or online at lakelandcc.edu/arts. Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and veterans and $2 for students. Online purchasers should bring their order confirmation to show at the door.

Under the direction of Judith Elias, the Lakeland Civic Flute Choir will honor the holidays of Christmas, Hanukah and Kwanzaa in their fall concert. They will present such Christmas classics as “Wassail Song,” “Feliz Navidad” and “The Christmas Banquet – A Renaissance Collection.” The choir will also present “Festive Sounds of Hanukah,” “African Noel,” and “Wexford Carol” among others. As guest performer, Dr. Robert L. Brown, Professor Emeritus of Lakeland Community College, will join the choir on piano in the presentation of ““Une Tabati?re à Musique, Valse-Badinage,” Op. 32 and “Lux Beata Trinitas” with Alex Ulle accompanying on oboe.

ABOUT THE CIVIC FLUTE CHOIR

The Lakeland Civic Flute Choir consists of many members of the previous Lake Erie College Flute Choir, The Hildegarden Flute Choir, and were most recently known as The Lake Flute Choir. In the spring of 2020, they were invited by Dr. Matthew Saunders, Lakeland music department chair, to be in residence at Lakeland Community College. The Lakeland Civic Flute Choir is open to new members by audition, including students and community members with some previous performance experience. ABOUT THE CIVIC MUSIC ENSEMBLES

Lakeland Community College provides community members the opportunity to express and advance their talents by performing in five music groups: the Lakeland Civic Band, the Lakeland Civic Chorus, the Lakeland Civic Flute Choir, the Lakeland Civic Jazz Orchestra and the Lakeland Civic Orchestra.?Additionally, the college offers talented high school students Jazz Impact, an all-star high school music group.
