ABOUT GIS DAY
Geographic information systems include the mapping technologies that are used to capture, analyze and display information in order to better understand the world. GIS technology is used in business, city planning, education, real estate surveying, environmental research and many more areas. GIS Day gives attendees the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the field by interacting with area professionals, viewing projects showing the various uses of GIS and participating in hands-on activities using different forms of geospatial technology.
?Exhibitors this year are the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), CT Consultants, Geauga County Planning Commission, Global Marketing Insights, Inc., Kaizen Village Foundation, Kucera International, Lake County General Health District, Lake County GIS Department, Lake County Planning Commission, Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District, Lakeland Community College, Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District and Preformed Line Products.
Special presentations will cover topics such as geointelligence, drone technology in studying wetlands and ecosystems, effects of human activity on the land, remote sensing, historical maps and open source data use and resources.
