Open house for medical assistant, administrative medical office assistant slated for Oct. 26

Posted: October 21, 2021

The medical assisting and medical office assistant programs at Lakeland Community College will hold an open house Tuesday, Oct. 26, from noon-1 p.m., and 5-6 p.m., on the college’s main campus at 7700 Clocktower Drive (I-90 and Rt. 306 exit), in the H-Building, room H-106. This open house will also be delivered virtually via Webex for those who cannot attend in person.

The free event is for those exploring occupations in health care areas that do not require a degree. Participants will tour the classroom lab and find out how to start working in as soon as 12 months.

Visitors can meet the program’s director, Denise Lash, who will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the increasingly high demand for medical assistants locally.

The event is free, and registrations are requested by visiting https://bit.ly/med-assist-sign-up.

In 2018, Lakeland completed the construction of a state-of-the-art health technologies building. Students in the medical assisting program learn on up-to-date and industry-grade equipment in a medical facility setting.

A Medical Mutual of Ohio Scholarship is available to medical assisting students through Lake Health, now a part of University Hospitals. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is Nov. 12, 2021. Instructions to apply and the application to download is located at https://bit.ly/Medical-Mutual-Scholarship.
