Lakeland hosts Welcome Days event for new and returning students

Posted: June 29, 2021

Lakeland Community College is hosting "Welcome Days" this summer for new and returning students attending in the fall semester. Although students complete an online orientation as part of the enrollment process,

Welcome Days provides opportunities for students to explore campus in-person and learn about campus resources to help them succeed in college. The event will offer breakout sessions to meet students where they are in their educational journey, including:

• College Credit Plus (CCP) students (and their parents)
• Adult learner students 25 years or older
• Recent high school graduates
• Military veterans
• Honors program
• Exploring careers, next steps and life after Lakeland

"Initially, these summer events were developed to welcome students and enhance the online orientation with an opportunity for an on-campus experience for those seeking in-person interactions. The events have expanded to connect students with personalized campus support, meet other new and returning students, and to create excitement for the upcoming academic year," said Christina Corsi, associate director for strategic initiatives and campus engagement.

Attendees will also be able to participate in campus tours, get their student ID cards, connect to resources and be offered the opportunity to take care of items on the enrollment checklist. Welcome Days are slated for July 21, Aug. 3, and Aug. 18, from 3-7 p.m.; Aug. 12, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
