A grant dedicated for cybersecurity scholarships has now been expanded to include new students in all information technology and computer science (IT & CS) programs at Lakeland Community College. The college was awarded a Choose Ohio First grant in December 2019 to specifically support cybersecurity at Lakeland. However, due to the increasing demand for IT & CS professionals, the grant has been expanded to include all IT & CS programs at Lakeland.
To be considered for the scholarship, students must be new to Lakeland (including transfer students) majoring in an IT & CS degree program or certificate and have/maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Lakeland's Choose Ohio First IT&CS scholarship is a merit-based scholarship that will award a minimum $1,500 per student, per year.
New students pursuing the following degrees and/or certificates are encouraged to apply for the scholarship:
• Application Programming and Development
• Computer Science/Software Engineering
• Data Analytics
• IT Support Analyst
• Operating Systems/Networking
• Web Content Developer
• ATS – Computer Technology
• Computer User, IT Foundations, IT Specialist and IT Professional Certificates
To apply, students must log in to their myLakeland account and follow the prompts for the scholarship link.
