The Gallery at Lakeland presents “Celebrate Women’s History Month, from WOMAN XIII…Created by women, of women and about women.” The exhibition runs Feb. 23 through March 27, with an artist reception and awards ceremony slated for Sunday, March 22, at 3:30 p.m. in the Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center. The gallery is located on the first floor of the D-Building on Lakeland’s campus, at 7700 Clocktower Dr., Kirtland, Ohio, 44094. All shows are free and open to the public.
Now in its 13th year, The Gallery at Lakeland is producing a special exhibition dedicated to art of women as part of an initiative to honor Women’s History Month. The show is the brainchild of Mary Urbas, gallery coordinator at Lakeland and the curator of the exhibition. The show features an extensive display of pieces from artists from all over the country. This year, 43 artists are exhibiting their works, with the gallery walls and display cases filled with pieces representing a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor and gouache painting, drawing and collage, textiles, weaving, jewelry, glass mosaic, bronze sculpture, ceramic sculpture, assemblage art, mixed media, printmaking, enamels, digital photography and turned wood.
In addition, the Lakeland Women’s Center is hosting their annual Women of Achievement Awards event before the gallery reception. The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. in the Rodehorst Performing Arts Center and is free and open to the public.
About the gallery
