Lakeland links students to futures in information technology

Posted: March 7, 2019

Career, internship and educational opportunities in information technology will be showcased at IT Mashup at Lakeland Community College. The event takes place March 19 from 4-6 p.m. in the Center for Learning Innovation on the college’s main campus in Building A, Room A-2100, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094.

Students are invited to explore opportunities available through Lakeland’s Information Technology and Computer Science (IT&CS) program that can lead to internships and in-demand careers in the field. Lakeland’s Career Service Center will also be on-site to assist students in career exploration, and to introduce students to representatives of local companies.

Participants will get to:

  • Talk to employers from Hyland Software, Cardinal Commerce, IBM and more regarding paid internships and career opportunities.
  • Hear about trends in technology and employment growth projections in this high demand field.
  • Discover how to increase earning potential.

Lakeland’s IT&CS program offers seven associate degree concentrations as well as seven industry professional certificates and professional development in the field. The department is currently working to implement another new degree program in cybersecurity, a job field in which an estimated 3.5 million workers will be needed in the U.S. by 2021 according to a report by the Northeast Ohio Institutions of Higher Learning. Transfer opportunities into bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at other Ohio institutions are also available through Lakeland’s IT&CS program.
