Lakeland faculty show exceptional skills in gallery exhibition

The annual “Lakeland Community College Visual Arts Faculty Exhibition” is now open in The Gallery at Lakeland. The show runs until Dec. 12, 2018. The Gallery at Lakeland is located on the first floor of the D-Building on Lakeland’s main campus, at 7700 Clocktower Dr., Kirtland, Ohio, 44094. All shows are free and open to the public.

This eclectic collection includes oil and acrylic painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, jewelry/metals, mixed media and graphic design created by the talented and skilled visual arts faculty of Lakeland Community College.

The faculty and the media they are exhibiting includes:

Carol Adams: mixed media sculpture, fiber and enamel

Christopher Berry: acrylic painting on canvas

Paula Blackman: ceramic sculpture and functional clay

Mark Del Balso: digital art and mixed media sculpture

Wade Gagich: photography, archival pigment print

Becky Grasser: gum bichromate, toy pinhole camera, toy camera

Frank Gwirtz: photography

Amy D. Hawk: graphic design

Eddie Mitchell: oil and acrylic painting on canvas, prismacolor on pastel paper

J. Derek O’Brien: steel & ceramic sculpture

James R. Popovic: photography, digital print on sintra

Frank Prpic: photography, digital giclee prints

David Samiec: digital photography

Cindi Schmitt-Del Balso: pastel and drawing on paper

Grace Summanen: mixed media

David M. Thum: photography, digital photograph

Eric Vaughn: photography, digital inkjet print

Jane Wiemer: jewelry and metals

JenMarie Zeleznak: drawing, watercolor pencil on paper

An artist reception is being held Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, from 7-9 p.m. in the gallery. In addition to meeting the faculty artists, guests will be entertained by a musical performance by the FAC-PAC, which is a band comprised of present and former music faculty of the college.

About the gallery

The Gallery at Lakeland presents seven art exhibitions each year, in addition to an annual Holiday Artists’ Market, which benefits the Lakeland Visual Arts Student Exhibition. These exhibitions support and advance recognition of Lakeland’s fine arts academic programs; diversity efforts at the college; community arts groups; local, regional and national artists; as well as local high school all-star artists.
