On Thursday, Nov. 1, Lakeland Community College's Tau Delta chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD), the International English Honor Society serving two-year institutions, held a ceremony to initiate 43 new members.
Membership in SKD reflects academic excellence, and members must maintain an overall GPA of 3.3 as well as earning no less than a grade of B in their college-level English courses.
Faculty advisors Dr. Natalie Hopper and Dr. Gretchen Frank, associate professors of English, organized the ceremony. English professor April Mason, who founded Lakeland's chapter of SKD in 2009, delivered an address to the new members and their family and friends in attendance.
