SBA event to help small businesses grow

The Ohio Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Lakeland Community College is presenting a free seminar for small-business owners who want to expand their business and learn more about the Small Business Administration (SBA) loan programs, government contracting programs and other business expansion resources. The event takes place at Lakeland’s Holden University Center, Oct. 30, from 9-11 a.m., and includes a continental breakfast sponsored by Dollar Bank. The Holden University Center is located on route 306 across from the Lakeland’s main entrance, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094. Attendees must be pre-registered. Topics covered in this seminar include:

  • Types of SBA programs.
  • Small business advantages.
  • Finding the resources: building a relationship with your banker and finding SBA lenders.
  • Understanding the loan application process and eligibility criteria.
  • Government contracting programs.
  • Other Expansion Resources: SBDC export assistance network.

Presenters include:

  • Dennis Boose, vice president and department manager of the Small Business Banking Group at Dollar Bank.
  • Randy Horst, director of Small Business Capital Corporation of Ohio and SBDC business adviser at Lakeland.
  • John Renner, supervisory business development specialist, SBA.
  • Thomas R. Sangrik, business development and lender relations, U.S. SBA Cleveland District.
  • Nate Ward, director of SBDC Export Assistance Network
